CBGA is a direct precursor to THCA.

CBGA is the product of the alkylation of olivetolic acid with geranyl pyrophosphate by an enzyme called geranylpyrophosphate:olivatolate geranyltransferase. Prenylation of olivetolate by a hemp transferase yields cannabigerolic acid, the precursor of tetrahydrocannabinol
