Terminal Illness Cannabis Scheme (TICS)

The TICS provides guidelines for NSW police officers to help them determine the appropriate circumstances in which to use their discretion not to charge adults with terminal illness who use cannabis and/or cannabis products to alleviate their symptoms and carers who assist them.

Strict eligibility criteria applies to the TICS.

The TICS is open to Adults over 18 years of age, who have a terminal illness that has been certified by a medical practitioner.






Registered carers under the scheme can:

  1. possess no more than the maximum amount of cannabis outlined in table 1
  2. administer or supply cannabis to a registered adult at their usual place of residence, or any domestic residence.

Cannabis oil 1 gram
Cannabis resin 2.5 grams
